Our Story
My grandmother passed away before I got the chance to ask her about our roots. My father didn't have many answers either, I was curious about our history from Manitoba, our Métis heritage, which had gone largely unspoken for a couple of generations.
So I started digging. Not just for myself, but for my kids. I wanted them to know where they come from.
What I found was a rich and intricate heritage. I didn't stop at learning about it, I started living it. As a family, we've spent the past several years studying our history and practicing traditions that were once kept quiet. Now they're part of how we live. From the music, to beading, to learning the language, food traditions, and having been gifted my sash, this has given me the chance to discover my heritage.
